I've been back running slow and short distances for 3 weeks now after my December achilles blowout, but I'm still going through some rehab. Here's one thing that I'm doing two times every day; a 2 degree ice bucket for 20 minutes.

Now this may be one of the most excruciating thing you will experience in your athleteic lives. But it really only hurts for the first few times until you freeze your nerve endings off! Now it actually feels good :)

See you at Mooloolaba!

  1. Hi, Have you tried heat instead of ice? more blood flow to your achilles will help it heal quicker. You might want to try it.

  2. I was always under the inpression heat was conterproductive?

It turns out about 4 Kiwis are out with achilles problems at the moment. I've picked up plenty of remedies from talking to folks over the weekend. Perhaps the most promising is Laurent Vidal's 600Euro magnetic/accupunture sticks that he got off Jan Frodeno...I've got to gets some!!!
